A year after missing out on his third consecutive Home Run Derby title, Pete Alonso returns to the fray in an attempt to become MLB's second player ever to win three career titles.

Whether he can achieve that feat remains to be seen, though his pre-break home run numbers suggest he's up to the task: He is tied for the lead among all derby participants (and tied for third in MLB) with 25 on the season, as of Thursday. That said, multiple stars will challenge him for this year's title, including White Sox center fielder Luis Robert, who is tied with Alonso with 25 homers, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who lost in the 2019 finals.

Each of the top four seeds in the derby — Robert, Alonso, Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts and Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia — have at least 22 home runs this season.
