The Los Angeles Dodgers have a chance to make a deep playoff run this season.
Los Angeles has been one of the best teams in baseball all season, despite a handful of high-impact injuries. One of the biggest reasons why the Dodgers have been able to continue to find success despite the injuries certainly has been the play of superstar slugger Shohei Ohtani.
He has been unable to pitch this season, and yet he still has shined. Even without pitching, he still is projected to be the National League Most Valuable Player and finished atop Major League Baseball's latest poll.
"Shohei Ohtani, (designated hitter), Dodgers (28 first-place votes)," MLB.com's Brian Murphy said. "Who is having the more historic season: (Aaron Judge) or Ohtani? Whomever you choose, you're not wrong. Ohtani took another step toward becoming MLB's first 50-50 player on Sunday when he launched a 450-foot moonshot in the Dodgers' victory over Cleveland.
"It was his 46th home run, matching a career-high. The two-time AL MVP has already set personal bests with 113 runs and 101 RBIs, both of which hold at least a share of the National League lead. He is unmatched among NL players in slugging (.618), OPS (.992), and wRC+ (169), just to name a few categories."
Ohtani has been everything the Dodgers could've hoped for this season and the scary thought for opposing teams is that he should be even better in 2025 once he's able to take the mound again.
