The St. Louis Cardinals rallied after trailing 4-1 in the top of the eighth inning to pull off a stunning comeback win over the Chicago Cubs. However, the win didn't come without a little bit of trouble.

Late in the game, center fielder Michael Siani departed due to oblique tightness and was subsequently replaced by Lars Nootbaar. It appears that the young outfielder is headed to the injured list.

According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, St. Louis is calling up a top prospect to replace Siani.

"The Cardinals are calling up Victor Scott II ahead of tonight's game against Chicago, which indicates an IL stint for Michael Siani (oblique)," Woo tweeted Sunday. "Really tough break for Siani and St. Louis."

Any time without Siani is a major blow for St. Louis. The young outfielder was not expected to be on the Opening Day roster, but was added to the mix thanks to injuries to Tommy Edman and Dylan Carlson.

Scott was originally given the starting job in center field at the beginning of the season. However, he never quite got his bat going and ultimately was replaced by Siani.

The 25-year-old is hitting .256 with two home runs and 18 RBI this season. He has also played Gold Glove-caliber defense in center field. In his absence, the Cardinals could give Nootbaar most of the reps in center field and keep Tommy Pham in the starting lineup for the time being, but losing Siani certainly hurts.
