The Toronto Blue Jays have had a rather disappointing 2024 season.

After winning 89 games a season ago and capturing the third American League Wild Card spot, they have fallen on hard times and now sit at the bottom of the AL East with a record of 59-67.

However, they could potentially be in the mix for a major rotation upgrade according to Zach Rymer of Bleacher Report.

"The Blue Jays were said to be 'quietly monitoring' Blake Snell in January," Rymer wrote. "Maybe they'll be more aggressive this winter."

The Blue Jays have a solid foundation coming back for 2025 despite this season going off the rails. Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios, and Chris Bassitt remain in the rotation, and the potential addition of Snell would certainly give them a boost.

Snell won his second Cy Young last season with the San Diego Padres and did not sign with the San Francisco Giants until late in the offseason. He got off to a rough start but has since lowered his ERA to 3.67 on the year and is almost certainly going to opt out of his deal.

The 31-year-old left-hander is also familiar with the AL East thanks to his days with the Tampa Bay Rays, so if he were to join the Blue Jays, he would be facing familiar teams.

It will be interesting to see if Toronto ultimately decides to pursue the veteran lefty.
