When is the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup?
The countdown to the 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup has officially begun. The 13th edition of the ODI World Cup will be held from October 5 to November 19, 2023.
While India has co-hosted the event three times (1987,1996, 2011), this will be the first time the country is the sole organiser.
The competition was originally slated to be held from February to March 2023. However, due to COVID-related barriers, the ICC made changes to the plan and pushed the tournament to October-November.
The final will be played on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
2023 ODI Cricket World Cup teams
Just like the ODI World Cup in 2019, the tournament will see 10 teams vying for the trophy. However, instead of ODI rankings, the qualification process saw teams compete in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League and qualify for the World Cup through a series of games played from 2020 to 2023.
Sri Lanka and the Netherlands were the last two teams to qualify for the tournament. What came as a shock to many fans, though, was the elimination of West Indies — two-time World Champions with victories in 1975 and 1979.
Here's all the teams participating in the 2023 World Cup:
- India
- Australia
- England
- New Zealand
- Afghanistan
- South Africa
- Pakistan
- Bangladesh
- Sri Lanka
- Netherlands

Who will win the Cricket World Cup 2023?
The hosts, India, look like the favourites to lift the trophy with the home crowd potentially playing an important role. Under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, India will hope to bring the World Cup home after 12 years.
Defending champions England will want to keep the ODI World Cup trophy and reclaim their title, and with the return of Ben Stokes their team looks ready to fight.
Australia are on a hot winning streak right now. Under the able captaincy of Pat Cummins, the men from Down Under have managed to win the World Test Championship in 2023 and retained the Ashes too. It won't be a surprise if they win the ODI World Cup to add to that haul.
