Top Indian wrestlers have suspended their protest following a meeting with the Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday.
The wrestlers have been assured of a thorough investigation into the sexual harrassment allegations against the Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
Some of India's most decorated wrestlers, including Olympians Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Mailk and Bajrang Punia, had sat in protest, at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, for more than a month as the Delhi Police and government agencies dragged their feet over the issue.
The gravest charge against the Brij Bhushan, who is a six-time MP of India's ruling party BJP and a policial strongman, was sexual harrassment of seven wrestlers, including a minor.

The protest came to a head on Sunday, May 28, when the protesters were dragged off the streets and detained and their protest site torn down. This happened on the same day when India's new parliament building was inaugurated.
Following their detention, wrestlers had threatened to immerse their medals in the River Ganga and sit in for a hunger strike.
The government finally relented and agreed to discuss the matter with the wrestlers on Wednesday. Their meeting with Thakur lasted nearly six hours. The Sports Minister said the police would complete an investigation against the WFI chief by 15 June and that the wrestlers had promised not to hold any demonstrations till then.
The wrestlers have also been assured that the WFI elections will be held by 30 June and neither Brij Bhushan nor any of his close associates would have a role in the new panel.
"It is better for the country to have the award-winning grapplers on the mat than on the roads," Thakur told The Indian Express newspaper after the meeting.
The Delhi Police have filed two cases against Brij Bhushan so far, , including one under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). However, he hasn't been arrested yet.
