Day four of the World Archery Championships saw Indian archers pick up where they had left off on day three, with Aditi Swami and Ojas Deotale creating history.
Swami won India's first-ever gold medal at the World Archery Championships in the compound women's team category along with Parneet Kaur and Jyothi Surekha Vennam on Friday. The 17-year-old then secured a first-ever individual gold for India at the Championships on Saturday, beating Mexico's Andrea Becerra in the final.

Whereas, Deotale became the first Indian male to win gold at the World Championships. He registered an incredible score of perfect 150 in the final to defeat Lukasz Przybylski by a narrow margin of just one point in the men's compound category.
Who is Aditi Gopichand Swami?
Aditi Swami hails from Satara in Maharastra, and joined an archery academy in 2016 at the age of just 11.
In the Archery World Cup earlier this year, she broke the U18 world record in the 72-arrow category during qualification, scoring 711/720 and beating USA's Lika Arreola by six points. She fell just two points short of the senior record, held by Colombian Sara Lopez.
In July, Swami then won the World Archery Youth Championships, becoming India's fourth women's medallist at the tournament and the first women's compound bow medal winner at the tournament.

How did the Indians perform at the Archery World Championships 2023?
After the Indian trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur and Aditi Swami won gold in the compound women's team event on Friday, they were all in action against each other in the individual category on Saturday.

Swami beat Dutch archer Sanne de Laat in a tense quarterfinal that required a shootout, while Vennam beat Parneet 149-143. This ensured that an Indian would take home at least one medal, with two in the top four.
In the second semifinal, Swami narrowly beat Vennam, eventually winning 149-145 and setting up a final clash with Andrea Becerra of Mexico.
Vennam then overcame Ipek Tomruk of Turkey, shooting a perfect 150 to beat her opponent by four points and secure the bronze medal.
After that, Swami beat Mexico's Andrea Becerra in the final, 149-147 to secure the gold medal.
