The 2023 winner of the Mr Olympia title was announced on Sunday, after the Olympia Fitness and Performance Weekend took place from 2-5 November.

‘Mr Olympia’ is the title awarded to the winner of the bodybuilding competition, which is held annually. It was created by former bodybuilder Joe Weider in the 1960s, in order to enable the winners of the Mr Universe competition to continue competing and earning money.

The first edition was held in New York City in 1965, and one of the most famous participants and winners of the title is Arnold Schwarzenegger who went on to have an incredibly successful Hollywood and political career.

The women’s edition of the competition, Ms Olympia, was established in 1980.

Who is the greatest Mr. Olympia? Who has won the bodybuilding title most times?

The first-ever winner of the competition was bodybuilder Larry Scott, a big name in the sport at the time. He won the title twice in a row in 1965 and 1966, before retiring.

Currently, the record for most number of overall Mr Olympia titles is held by two Americans, Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney who have won eight each. Arnold Schwarzenegger has won seven titles.

Who won the 2023 Mr Olympia title?

The 2023 Mr Olympia overall champion was USA's Derek Lunsford, with Hadi Choopan of Iran coming second and UK's Samson Dauda finishing in third place. 

 

 

The subcategory of Classic Physique was won by Canadian Chris Bumstead, his fifth straight win. The Men's 212 Division was won by Keone Pearson and the Men's Physique title went to Ryan Terry of the UK.
