PV Sindhu was ousted from the BWF World Badminton Championships 2023 in the first round in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Tuesday.

How did PV Sindhu play against Nozomi Okuhara in the World Championship?
Sindhu, the most successful Indian at the World Championships with five medals, struggled to assert her attacking prowess and suffered a defeat of 14-21, 14-21 against Nozomi Okuhara of Japan, a 2017 gold medallist and 2019 silver winner.
This marks the first instance in her career that Sindhu, seeded 16th, failed to reach the quarterfinals in this prestigious tournament.
How has PV Sindhu performed in 2023?
2023 has been a turbulent year for Sindhu, following five months out with injury. The highlight of it so far has been the final she made at the Madrid Masters.
In June, she parted ways with coach Park Tae-Sang before joining up with Muhammad Hafiz Hashim prior to the Korea Open in July.
This loss marks her 8th first round exit of the year. Sindhu has exited two further tournaments at the second round stage.

PV Sindhu will return to action in the 2023 Asian Games. She has earlier won one silver medal and one bronze medal so far in the continental meet.
