PV Sindhu will lead a 33-strong Indian contingent at the Korea Open 2023 badminton tournament, which is scheduled from July 18 to 23 in Yeosu, the Republic of Korea.
The two-Olympic medallist will start her campaign against Chinese Taipei's Pai Yu Po in the first round. However, Sindhu may potentially encounter tough competition in the form of the Republic of China's Chen Yufei, the reigning Olympic champion and world No. 3, as early as the second round.
Other notable players in the same bracket include Wang Zhi Yi of China (world No. 10), An Se Young of Chinese Taipei (world No. 2), and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia (world No. 8).
In the men's singles, the spotlight will be on Lakshya Sen as he has been in terrific form this campaign winning the Canada Open and making the semi-finals of the recently concluded US Open.

Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy will return to action after a brief break. While the former face a formidable challenge in Japan's Kento Momota, Prannoy will go up against Belgiuim's Julien Carraggi in the opening round.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will also return to the court and will lock horns against Supak Jomkoh and Kittinupong Kedren in the round of 32. Whereas, the women’s doubles team of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly will play against the South Korean pair of Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee in the round of 16 after getting a walkover in the previous round.
The Korea Open holds significance as the results will contribute to the players' qualifying rankings for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
