Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday confirmed about India's bid to host the Olympics 2036. Modi was present at the Jio World Centre at the inauguration of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) session in Mumbai.
India hosted the IOC session for the first time in 40 years. The last IOC session hosted in India was in December 1983, in New Delhi.

The session was attended by IOC President, Thomas Bach. Prime Minister Modi and Bach shared quality time together as the former admitted that he was impressed by India as a country.
Will India host the 2036 Olympics?
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed that India are interested in hosting the 2036 Olympics in the country. Hosting an event of the stature of the Olympics is a matter of pride for any country.
The Prime Minister further revealed that India "will leave no stone unturned" to organise the prestigious competition.

"Sports is not just for winning medals but it is also the best way to win hearts. It not only gives rise to champions but also promotes peace”, Modi added.
Will India host the 2029 Youth Olympics?
The Indian PM also made it that India are interested in hosting the 2029 Youth Olympics. He admitted that with the support of the IOC, India would be able to host the event in the best way possible.
We are willing to host the 2029 Youth Olympics, I am sure India will get constant support from IOC.
What did IOC President Thomas Bach say at the meet?
International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach spoke highly of India as a nation upon his visit to Mumbai for the IOC Session.
He said,
"India is an inspiring place. The entire Olympic community in India can be proud of the Asian Games performance”, Bach said.
"Cricket is getting more popular all over the world and presently Cricket World Cup is being held in India successfully. So we look forward to cricket players participating in the 2028 Olympics", the German added.
