The China Open 2023 is the 20th tournament of the 2023 BWF World Tour and will be held at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Centre’s Xincheng Gymnasium.
However, the Indian contingent had a poor start as HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen crashed out of the men’s singles event in the first round.

Prannoy went down to world No. 22 Ng Tze Yong of Malaysia, 21-12, 13-21, 21-18, while Sen was beaten 23-21, 16-21, 21-9 defeat by world no.10 Anders Antonsen of Denmark.
Priyanshu Rajawat also lost in the first round to Indonesia’s Shesar Hiren Rhustavito, 21-13, 26-24, in straight games.
The two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, ranked 14th in the world of badminton, has withdrawn from the women's singles category at the China Open. Initially, she was India's sole representative in this category, but she has opted out of the competition.
In the men's doubles competition, India will be represented by Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, who are seeded second, along with MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila.
In the women's doubles event, the Indian pair of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly were outplayed by home favourites Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan, who won silver at the Tokyo Olympics, 21-18, 21-11.
