The Olympiad will serve as a great rehearsal for Gukesh before he champions the FIDE World Champion, Ding Liren in November this year. Gukesh won the FIDE Candidates tournament earlier in April this year, earning himself a title shot against China’s Liren.

Gukesh became the youngest player to win a Candidates tournament. The 18-year-old won the prestigious tournament in Toronto in April.
