India have announced a 33-strong rowing squad on Monday for the upcoming Asian Games 2023 which features the likes of Olympians Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh.

The contingent comprises 20 men and 13 women, along with two substitutes for each men's and women's teams.

The final team was selected after an intense trial conducted by the Rowing Federation of India (RFI) at the Army Rowing Node in Pune and Hyderabad from June 21 to July 2.

Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh participated in the men's lightweight double sculls event at the Tokyo Olympics.

They finished 11th in the overall rankings of the event, marking India's best performance in rowing at the Olympic Games to date. They will be hoping to better their performance in Hangzhou, China after they clocked a time of 6:29.66, finishing fifth out of six boats.

India's most notable achievement in rowing at the Asian Games occurred during the 2010 edition in Guangzhou, China. Indian rowers secured an impressive medal haul with one gold, three silvers, and one bronze. Similarly, at the 2018 Jakarta Games, Indian rowers returned with three medals, including one gold and two bronze.
