India's Dhanyadha JP finished second in the women’s Junior individual pursuit (2000mtr) with a timing of 2:28.871 to create a new national record at N. Sembilan in Malaysia on Saturday.

Chinese Taipei's Chai Roug Lee claimed gold as she completed the race in 2:28.239, whereas China's Chunrui Zhan stood third.

The 17-year-old Dhanyadha hails from Coimbatore and won two gold medals at the National Track Cycling Championship in 2021. Her first medal came in the individual pursuit event and the second in the team sprint.

Dhanyadha started cycling to keep herself fit.

"I started cycling as a fitness exercise. It eventually became my sports, as I started liking it," she had revealed earlier.
