Asha Bhosle grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons after she wished an athlete for winning gold in the ongoing Asian Games 2023 with a two-month-old video of a separate event.
The legendary playback singer congratulated Jyothi Yarraji with the video of her victory in the Asian Athletics Championships thinking that the event was the Asian Games.

In the Asian Athletics Championships, Yarraji achieved a first-place finish with a time of 13.09 seconds in the 100m hurdles event back on July 14. This victory followed her previous gold medal in the National Inter-State Championships in June where she created a national record by finishing in 12.82 seconds.
Bhosle wrote on X: “Heartiest congratulations to Yaraaji from Andhra Pradesh for winning the Gold for 100mts hurdles at the Asian Games,” posted Bhosle as the video went viral on social media.
Yarraji's event, the women's 100m hurdles, in the Asian Games is yet to take place.
When will Jyothi Yarraji's event in the Asian Games take place?
Jyothi Yarraji's event, the women's 100m hurdles, will take place at 6:45 PM IST on October 1.
The sprinter left for China on Tuesday morning to take part in the Games.

In the past, similar misleading posts had circulated, falsely claiming that Hima Das had won a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games in 2022 even before her event had begun.
However, it was later revealed that the viral video in question was actually from the 2018 World Athletics Championships and not from the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
