The Indian men's hockey team won the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, defeating Spain 2-1 in a hard-fought match at the Yves du Manoir Stadium.

Spain took the lead in the second quarter, with their captain Marc Miralles scoring from a penalty stroke. However, India quickly responded. Just before the half-time hooter, India’s captain Harmanpreet Singh levelled the score with a powerful drag flick from a penalty corner.

The match remained tense, but India took control in the third quarter. Once again, Harmanpreet Singh was the hero, scoring his second goal of the match from another penalty corner, giving India a 2-1 lead.

The Indian defence, led by the experienced PR Sreejesh in goal, stood strong against Spain’s attacks, which ensured they maintained their lead.

This win was particularly special as it marked the final international appearance of PR Sreejesh, India’s legendary goalkeeper. In the match, Sreejesh made crucial saves to keep Spain at bay.
