Someone will break the bank at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship.
This weekend's event at Quail Hollow is one of the PGA Tour's designated events in 2023, which means that the Tour's best players will be vying for some of the Tour's best money.
In 2022, Max Homa took home a $1.62 million check for winning the event. This year, the winner will cash a check that's double that amount. The winner will also cash a check that's more than what Jon Rahm earned at the 2023 Masters.
The new money bodes well for the PGA Tour, which wants its star players to play against other star players on a more consistent basis. The money should help spur action, if the thirst for competition doesn't.
