Virat Kohli was euphoric after Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) women's team emerged triumphant over the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final of the 2024 Women's Premier League (WPL) with an emphatic eight-wicket win over DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

After the thrilling victory, Kohli connected with Smriti Mandhana and her teammates through a video call to share their joy and extend his congratulations. The cricketer could be seen flexing his biceps and literally dancing as the women's squad cheered on!

The ecstatic crowd at the Arun Jaitley Stadium erupted into chants of "Kohli Kohli" as RCB secured their historic victory, signalling the fulfilment of a dream for the team and their fans.

The win marked the end of a long 16-year trophy drought for RCB, who had previously made three final appearances in 2009, 2011, and 2016 without clinching the title in the men's edition.

The phrase "Ee Sala Cup Namde" ("This Year the Cup is Ours"), which had often been mocked and ridiculed in the past, finally became a reality as RCB lifted their first-ever WPL title. Their victory not only brought joy to the team but also silenced critics and social media trolls who had doubted their ability to win silverware.

RCB's path to victory was highlighted by their dominant performance in the final, where they chased down DC's target of 114 runs with ease.

The spin attack led by Ellyse Perry played a crucial role in restricting DC's batting lineup, setting the stage for RCB's comfortable victory.

Reflecting on the win, Perry praised the exceptional standard of cricket displayed by RCB throughout the tournament. Her unbeaten knock of 35 runs off 37 deliveries played a vital role in guiding RCB to victory in the final.
