England and Pakistan are set to meet in the T20 World Cup final on Sunday night (AEDT) - but what happens if the match is washed out?

This year's tournament has been marred by poor weather - mainly in Melbourne, who will be the host of the final - with multiple games called off without a ball being bowled.

Australia vs England, Ireland vs Afghanistan and New Zealand vs Afghanistan were all abandoned, which ended up costing the Aussies a chance to make it past the group stage.

What happens if the T20 World Cup final is washed out?

There will be joint winners of the T20WC if the final does get washed out on Sunday night.

According to The Sydney Morning HeraldPakistan and England will share the winner's purse if the final is abandoned, no result is possible or if a Super Over cannot be completed after a tied result.

Despite a five-over per-side minimum for the group stages, the semi-finals and final must have at least 10 overs bowled by each side to constitute a match.

There will be a reserve day, where two hours can be allotted to finish the match, with a start time of 3pm scheduled on the Monday.

The World Cup's Event Technical Committee (ETC) has also increased the amount of additional playing time on the reserve day from two hours to four hours.

The 2002 Champions Trophy tournament finished with joint winners, as Sri Lanka and India split the prize due to wet weather in Colombo.
