India captain Rohit Sharma, known for his calm and laid-back demeanor on the cricket field, is more than just a relaxed player. Often seen as someone who takes things casually, Rohit’s cricketing intelligence is actually quite sharp, umpire Anil Chaudhary has noted.

His relaxed attitude and occasional forgetfulness, especially during toss, might amuse his fans and fellow players, but there’s a lot more to him than meets the eye.

Anil Chaudhary, who has closely observed Rohit in action, recently shared insights into how Rohit’s casual appearance hides a brilliant cricketing mind.

What did Anil Chaudhary observe about Rohit Sharma?

Chaudhary highlighted how Rohit’s calm nature doesn’t affect his game intelligence. He explained that Rohit’s ability to stay relaxed on the field helps him make quick and smart decisions, both as a batsman and a captain.

He shared his experiences of umpiring in matches where Rohit was playing. He pointed out that Rohit’s casual demeanor might mislead people into thinking he’s not fully engaged, but in reality, he is always in control.

"Rohit may appear relaxed, but he’s an exceptionally smart player. Don’t be deceived by his demeanor; his cricketing IQ is quite impressive," Chaudhary said.

Chaudhary went on to describe how Rohit’s relaxed attitude extends to his gameplay. He mentioned that when Rohit is at the crease, he makes everything look easy.

"When Rohit is at the crease, it feels like the bowlers are sending down deliveries at a brisk pace of 120 km/h, whereas for the opposing batsman, it appears as though it’s racing in at 160 km/h. He gets embroiled in numerous appeals yet casually brushes them aside, showcasing that he is far from being laid-back,” he added.

One of the most memorable moments for Chaudhary was when he officiated a match where Rohit scored over 200 runs.

“I was the TV umpire for that game. Rohit’s performance was extraordinary. He may appear lazy, but his strategic understanding of the game is profound,” Chaudhary recalled.
