It was understood from the meeting between Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) officials and Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owners, a majority of the teams do not want a mega auction ahead of the 2025 season.

Instead, the owners of those franchises suggested that a mini auction be held instead, asking the BCCI to postpone the upcoming mega auction for another year.

KKR's (Kolkata Knight Riders) Shahrukh Khan and SRH's (Sunrisers Hyderabad) Kavya Maran, were of the opinion that the mega auction should be held only in a 4-5 year cycle and were in favour of not having the big auction this year.
