Even though Afghanistan didn't get a fairytale ending, they punched above their weight to reach the semifinal of T20 World Cup 2024. One of the standout performers for the Asian team was pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi, who finished the campaign as the as the highest wicket-taker in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.

Farooqi dismissed South Africa opener Quinton de Kock to go past Wanindu Hasaranga's tally of 16 wickets at the 2021 T20 World Cup.
