After two months of gruelling action, the cricketing summer in India is set to come to a conclusion with the IPL final taking place on Sunday between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Electing to bat first, SRH were shaken early as Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Arora got rid of openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head within the first two overs. They continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, collapsing quickly.

Heinrich Klaasen gave them a glimmer of hope through the middle overs, but SRH could not withstand the steady onslaught of the KKR bowlers, collapsing to 113 all out in 18.3 overs.

Prior to this season, the lowest first-innings total in an IPL final was 129/8, scored by Mumbai Indians against Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017. It is also currently the lowest total to be successfully defended in the summit clash, as MI won that match by one run in a thrilling finale.

Three other totals below 150 have been successfully defended in an IPL final; 149 (MI vs CSK in 2019), 148 (MI vs CSK in 2013) and 143 (DC vs RCB in 2009).
