Recently, Gambhir, the Kolkata Knight Riders' mentor, recently appeared in a chat with Sportskeeda, where he was asked about the criticism received by Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya from the likes of AB de Villiers and Pietersen.

Gambhir quickly downplayed De Villiers and Pietersen's words, stating that the duo had achieved absolutely nothing as captains during their playing careers.

Pietersen took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond to Gambhir's rather blunt statements regarding his captaincy credentials.
The Englishman took those statements in a light-hearted way and reacted in quite a spirited fashion. "He’s not wrong. I was a terrible captain!!!," Pietersen wrote on X, tagging Gambhir.
