On Wednesday, May 8, Mumbai Indians (MI) became the first team to be eliminated from playoffs contention in IPL 2024 as a consequence of Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) 10-wicket defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

MI are currently in ninth position on the table, having collected just four wins in 12 games. It was a horrible showing from the Men in Blue and Gold all campaign, with flashes of brilliance. In hindsight, to say that they were undeserving of a top-four spot would be a fair assessment.

Which teams have qualified for the IPL 2024 playoffs?

KKR became the first team to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs after beating Mumbai Indians on May 11 by 18 runs.

As things stand, Rajasthan Royals (RR) are also on course to seal their playoff spots. They need just one more win to qualify for the playoffs unless other results deem that requirement to become irrelevant.

SRH, with 14 points, lie in third place on the points table and are almost assured of a playoff berth, too. That leaves us with one spot, which looks likely to be a three-way battle between Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), and LSG, the fourth, fifth, and sixth-placed teams at the moment, respectively.
