With their win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) qualified for IPL 2024 playoff, winning five games consecutively.

RCB needed to beat CSK by 18 runs to make it to the last-four stage and they eventually managed to beat them by 27 runs. 

RCB have currently played twelve games this season, winning five of those and losing on seven occasions.

RCB’s qualification record since 2008

RCB have been a part of the IPL since its inception, way back in 2008. The Vijay Mallya owned team also featured in the first ever IPL game, playing against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Brendan McCullum scored an unbeaten 158 off just 73 deliveries on the night as KKR won the match by a whopping 140 runs.

RCB are yet to win the IPL title in 16 years, but irrespective of that they have had one of the most loyal fanbases out of all the other franchises.

RCB have now managed to breach the top four and qualify for the playoffs on nine occasions, also managing to make it to the final on three of those occasions. Unfortunately, they have lost in the final every time and are yet to get their hands on the prestigious trophy.

The last time they reached the final of the tournament was back in 2016, wherein they lost to the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) from a winning position. Virat Kohli was in his absolute prime that season as the RCB star batsman won the orange cap by scoring 973 runs in 16 matches at an average of over 80.
