After two months of gruelling action, the cricketing summer in India is set to come to a conclusion with the IPL final taking place on Sunday between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
KKR qualified for the summit clash by defeating SRH in Qualifier 1 last Tuesday. Meanwhile, SRH booked their spot on Friday night, as they rode on a couple of unlikely heroes with the ball; Abhishek Sharma and Shahbaz Ahmed to beat Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2.

Out of 16 IPL finals thus far, seven have been won by the side batting second. The very first one, back in 2008 saw Rajasthan Royals chase down 164 against Chennai Super Kings off the final ball. The 2023 final also ended in a successful chase as CSK defeated Gujarat Titans in a thriller.
The highest successful chase in an IPL final to date remains Kolkata Knight Riders' pursuit of 200 against Kings XI Punjab back in 2014. GT posted 214/4 against CSK in 2023, but lost after CSK chased a DLS-revised score of 171.
