Glenn Maxwell has been one of the big-ticket buys in IPL history. The Australian all-rounder always fetches big money at IPL auctions. Having represented four IPL franchises, Maxwell is regarded as one of the best all-rounders to play in the league.

Recently. former Indian wicket-keeper, Parthiv Patel called Maxwell as the most overrated all-rounder in IPL history. The comment came after repeated underwhelming performances in IPL 2024.

Maxwell, who was retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for a sum of 11 Crores ahead of IPL 2024, has had one of his worst seasons ever.

What did Callum Ferguson say about Parthiv Patel's comments on Glenn Maxwell?

Talking to ESPN's talk show Around The Wicket, former Australian cricketer, Callum Ferguson criticised Parthiv Patel for his remarks on Glenn Maxwell. He called the remarks as unnecessary, and needless.

I do not think there is any need for that sort of statement, Ferguson claimed. Maxwell's IPL record is pretty good for someone who bats in the lower-middle order (5th or 6th position). Stats depend on your position where you're batting, Ferguson claimed on Around The Wicket.

Talking about Maxwell's stats, Ferguson compared him to the likes of Brendon McCullum and Rohit Sharma, two of IPL's greats.

Maxwell's average is a bit low, because he needs to hit balls. But his strike rate is through the roof. So he wins you games when he gets going. Just like Brendon McCullum and Rohit Sharma, who are match-winners too, Callum Ferguson backed Glenn Maxwell, Callum Ferguson called Maxwell a match-winner.

The statement by Parthiv Patel, I just do not like it. It is unnecessary and nowhere near the right mark, Ferguson concluded.
