India's domestic cricket season is set to start soon with the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) releasing a detailed schedule from June 2023 to March 2024, with 1846 matches set to be played in this time period. 

One of the biggest tournaments in Indian cricket's domestic calendar is the Duleep Trophy which will start on June 28 and end on July 16.

Many cricketers will be looking to get to top form during the tournament and get a chance to represent India at an international level. Two such players will be Cheteshwar Pujara and Suryakumar Yadav.

While the domestic season goes on, simultaneously, India's men's national side will go on a tour of the West Indies from July 12 to August 13. Pujara and Yadav were candidates to be part of the contingent that goes to the Indies but were dropped.

Instead, they will participate in this year's Duleep Trophy, representing the West Zone and replacing the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad who were chosen by India for the West Indies tour. They will be playing alongside the likes of Prithvi Shaw and Priyank Panchal who is the team captain.
