The men in yellow fell short of the qualification target by just 10 runs, resulting in RCB sealing a stunning comeback with six wins in a row and qualifying for the playoff round of the 2024 IPL season. MS Dhoni’s dismissal on the second ball of the last over cost CSK the game.

Dhoni has been speculated to retire from the sport altogether after the end of the on-going season and with CSK’s game against RCB proving to be their final match of the season, many fans have been heartbroken by the possibility that it was the last time they saw the veteran keeper on the field.

Meanwhile, Aussie legend and compatriot Michael Hussey has urged the CSK legend to continue for a couple of years before announcing his retirement. Sri Lankan youngster and CSK’s best bowler this season, Matheesha Pathirana has also done the same, urging Dhoni to continue for one more season via a post on X.

With so much speculation and confusion, one of the CSK officials has shared an important update with respect to Dhoni’s retirement. Talking to the Times of India (TOI), the CSK official stated,

Dhoni has not told anybody in CSK that he is quitting - he has told the management that he will wait for a couple of months before taking a final call

Recently CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan opened up on Dhoni's future as he said,

It is a question only MS can answer. We have always respected the decisions taken by MS. We have left it to him and as all of you know he has always taken his decisions and announced them at the appropriate time.

We do expect that we will get a decision as and when he decides. But we are very hopeful he’ll be available for CSK next year. That is the view and expectation of the fans and mine.
