England staged a brilliant comeback in the ongoing Ashes 2023 as they registered a three-wicket win over rivals Australia in the third Test match on Sunday.

The hosts lost seven wickets while chasing 224 runs on Day 2. Australia at one point were looking dangerous with the ball but Harry Brook made sure that his team eventually chased down the total.

Under pressure, Brook played a brilliant innings of 75 runs off 93 balls to guide his team to a much-needed win.

The English team will now head to Manchester for the fourth Test with the series at 2-1.

Can Australia register a third win at Old Trafford and seal the fate of the series or will England register a consecutive victory and restore parity in the series?

15:38- That's it! England stage a comeback in the series with a 3-wicket win over Australia in the third Test. Riding on Harry Brook's valiant innings of 75 runs, the hosts register an important win.

15:22- WICKET! Big wicket for Australia as Harry Brook departs for 75. Mitchell Starc takes a fifer!

14:43- FIFTY FOR HARRY BROOK! Returning to his favoured No. 5 position, Brook has delivered big time, and this has been an innings full of intent and character from the young batsman. He is the one holding the hopes of his country.

14:19- WICKET! ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST! Bairstow inside edges a wide delivery and drags it onto the stumps. Starc gets his fourth wicket and he is turning out to be the difference maker. It's unbelievable how the hosts have let the Aussies back into this game.

14:08- WICKET! WHAT A RUN CHASE THIS IS TURNING OUT TO BE!!! This game's got more twists and turns than a Hercule Poirot story. Australia have got the big fish in the form of Ben Stokes. No heroics for the England skipper at Headingley in 2023. It was a full length delivery that was sliding down the leg side, Stokes attempted a glance and it got the faintest of edges. Kumar Dharmasena took his time before raising his finger, and the hosts are in a spot of bother. This game keeps swinging like a pendulum, perhaps even more than a pendulum. England need 90 runs while Australia need five more wickets to earn the Urn by making it 3-0.

14:00- Session 2 commences. The players are out in to the middle. England need 98 runs, Australia need six wickets. Something's got to give. Let's find out in Session 2.

13:17- End of Session 1. Lunch Break commences. ENG 153/4 after 32, need more 98 runs to win

Although England lost four wickets in that morning session, they are definitely going to be the happier side walking back to the pavilion for lunch. They scored 126 runs in 27 overs at a run rate of 4.67, which goes to show that the Aussies, for all their effort and wickets, couldn't tighten the screw around the noose and limit the flow of runs. Had they conceded 30-40 runs less, they wouldn't have been in a spot of bother. But with just 98 runs needed, the hosts are slightly the favourites to win this game. The action will resume in about 40 minutes, so stay tuned!

13:03- WICKET! JOE ROOT DEPARTS! It's a huge wicket for Australia given the circumstances. It was a short ball by Cummins that was going down the leg side. Root is tempted to attempt a pull shot and he does, only to get a feather of a touch off the glove, straight into the hands of Carey. It's the third time in a row Cummins has made Root his bunny. He walks back after scoring 21. England 131/4, 120 runs away from the finish line.

12:21- WICKET! Zak Crawley falls six runs short of a well-deserved half-century. Mitchell Marsh bowls this one a tad wider, luring Crawley into the drive. However, he edges it straight to Alex Carey. It's a timely wicket for Australia, and a huge loss for England.

11:44- WICKET! STARC GETS HIS SECOND! The strategy to send Moeen Ali in at No. 3 fails, akin to the failure of Harry Brook at No. 3 in the 1st innings. England have lost two wickets in less than nine overs in the first 45 minutes of play today and the Aussies are absolutely pumped. Starc is on fire and when he is in his mojo, you don't want to be facing him. Huge wicket this. England 60/2 now.

11:22- WICKET! AUSTRALIA GET THE EARLY BREAKTHROUGH!!! Mitchell Starc bowls a full length delivery that swung back in, and it strikes Ben Duckett's pads after he completely missed the line. He reviews but the TV replays show that the ball hit the leg stump. Can Australia get another wicket now?

11:00- Action commences on Day 4. England finished Day 3 at 27/0 and are in need of 224 runs in order to win the game and stay alive in the series. Australia, on the other hand, will hope to make early inroads and put the hosts under pressure.

England vs Australia: The Ashes Third Test, Day 3 highlights

19:31- STUMPS, DAY 3. ENG 27/0 after 5 overs, need 224 more runs to win

Although only 25.1 overs were bowled today, we saw a lot of drama unpack in Leeds. The weather gods wanted to play spoilsport, but that couldn't prevent us from witnessing some dramatic action today. Australia added 108 runs today and a lot of credit for that goes to Travis Head, who scored a brilliant half-century and showed tremendous courage in the face of adversity. Just when it looked like England could restrict Aussies from swelling the lead beyond 220-225, Head played some audacious shots to take the lead to 250.

In reply, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett have managed to get the hosts off to a good start, scoring 27 runs in 5 overs. They need 224 more runs to not only win this Test, but to also keep the series alive. We will be back with all the action tomorrow. Have a good night, folks!

19:05- England's innings commences. They need 251 runs to stay alive in the series. Can they finally get over the finish line this time around? Let's find out!

19:00- End of innings. AUS 224 all out after 67.1 overs, set ENG a target of 251 runs

18:58- WICKET! Travis Head's onslaught comes to an unfortunate end!!! This was a brilliant knock by Head under trying circumstances, and his 77-run effort has ensured that Australia's lead touches 250. It was Broad who took the wicket and he now finishes with three wickets in the innings.

18:48- WICKET! Broad gets his second wicket, and the 41-run stand for the 9th wicket between Head and Todd Murphy comes to an end as the latter perishes.

18:29- Fifty for Travis Head! This has been an invaluable knock from the No. 4 ranked Test batsman in the world. He has been a frustrating player to deal with for the Englishmen and he is the only one stopping England from restricting Australia to a low total.

18:13- WICKET! The Aussie wickets are tumbling now and Wood gets his second wicket of the innings as Pat Cummins departs without troubling the scorers much.

17:59- WICKET! Mark Wood breaks the partnership and gets his first wicket of the 2nd innings. Starc looked good during his brief stay at the crease but Wood gets the wicket as Harry Brook completes a catch after some confusion with Bairstow. Australia seven down now.

17:35- WICKET! Woakes strikes again, and this time it's Alex Carey who has to make the long walk back to the pavilion. He drags it back on to his stumps as the ball bounces a tad extra. England in the drivers' seat now!

17:14- WICKET! It's a huge wicket as Mitchell Marsh has been sent back to the dressing room. Woakes gets the all-important breakthrough and England have struck early on Day 3. Marsh was caught in two minds and the ball just caresses his gloves to fly straight to Jonny Bairstow.

17:01- The covers are going off! This is a little cat and mouse game being played between nature and players. If the weather forecast is to be believed, we will have 30 minutes of uninterrupted play. Let's hope for the best!

16:50- The covers are back on and the play has been interrupted after only one over was bowled. This is going to be a tricky phase for the players, especially the batsmen, with rain influencing the conditions. The rain isn't all that heavy, but the covers are on.

16:45- The players have walked out to the middle and we are all set for what appears to be a mini-session of play with the grey clouds lurking and rain looming large. It's Chris Woakes who will start the proceedings, and he should be able to extract some movement in conditions conducive to pace bowling.

16:20- Alright, finally some glimmer of hope as the play on Day 3 can begin at 4:45 PM local time provided there isn't any further rain. 34 overs can be bowled and play can be extended till 7:30 PM local time.

15:50- The news from the centre has come in after the inspection. Pending no further rain, there will be another inspection at 4:15 PM local time.

15:19- The inspection is set to take place at 3:45 PM local time, but the covers are still firmly in place as it seems unlikely we will get any action for at least two more hours.

14:20- It's heavily raining in Leeds again.

11:30- The covers are still on. An early Lunch is likely to be taken.

11:00- There is a delay in start of the play due to heavy rains in Leeds.

England vs Australia: The Ashes Third Test, Day 2 highlights

18:33- Stumps Day 2- Australia have a solid 142-run lead on the board. The partnership between Marsh and Head will be crucial. The pair steadied the boat after a quick loss of wickets and they ensured that there was no further loss after the departure of Smith and Labuschagne.

England need six more wickets before they begin the chase and if they can restrict their opponents to less than 200, they will fancy their chances to win at Leeds.

18:13- Wicket! Khawaja dismissed! Woakes bowls it full around middle and off and as Khawaja looks to defend it just angles away from him. A thick outside edge and Bairstow makes no mistake this time. Khwaja departs for 43 and Australia are effectively 116 for 4.

The centurion from the first innings, Mitch Marsh, walks out to bat.

17:40- Wicket! Smith, the big fish goes! Ali strikes again to pick his 200th test wicket. A brain fade moment from Smith as he clipped that one straight to short midwicket to Duckett. Bairstow seemed to have spoken something to Smith while he was walking back and the Australian was clearly not happy with his words. Nonetheless, he walks off with a shake of his head. The Aussies are 72 for three as Travis Head comes into the middle.

17:27- Wicket! Labuschagne departs for 33! Bairstow handed him a lifeline after he dropped the right-handed batter a couple of deliveries before but this time he has to make the long walk back to the pavilion. A lazy sweep off Moeen Ali and he is caught by Brook at deep midwicket. Horror on Labuschagne's face!

Steve Smith comes into the middle amid boos from the crowd as Australia lose their second wicket at 68.

17:10- 11 overs gone after tea and England are yet to find a breakthrough! Khawaja and Labuschagne have brought up their 50 runs partnership and Australia are cruising at the moment with 63 for 1 on the board.

16:00- Session 3 starts. Play resumes for the final session on Day 2. Root is brought into the attack as Khawaja gets ready to face the spinner.

15:42- End of Session 2. Tea Break commences. AUS 29/1 after 12 overs

14:54- WICKET! England strikes early as David Warner departs. The Australian opener's dismissal was almost similar how he got out in the first innings as he nicks Stuart Broad's delivery to the slip where Zak Crawley takes the catch.

14:43- Australia's second innings resumes.

14:32- WICKET! England bowled out for 237 runs as Ben Stokes departs after playing a valiant innings of 80 runs. Stokes tried to hit Murphy for a six but Smith took his catch.

Australia lead by 26 runs after the first innings.

14:13- Fifty up for England captain Ben Stokes!

14:10- WICKET! Pat Cummins gets rid of Stuart Broad. The English bowler tries to go all the way with a pull shot but Steve Smith takes a brilliant catch at deep backward point.

14-04: Oh Mitchell what have you done! The Australian fast bowler drops Ben Stokes' catch. The English tried to hit Todd Murphy out of the park but mistimed the shot. Starc came running from the long off but spilled the catch.

13:47- WICKET! Relief for Australia as Mark Wood departs after a quickfire 24 off just 8 balls. Pat Cummins strikes again for Australia.

13:40- Session 2! Play resumes

13:00- LUNCH! End of the first session and England lose yet another wicket as Starc gets rid of Woakes. The all-rounder nicked a short delivery and the ball went straight to Alex Carey.

England trail by 121 runs.

12:42- WICKET! Pat Cummins strikes again as he picks up Moeen Ali's wicket. The southpaw tries to pull a short delivery but times it poor as the ball lands on Steve Smith's hand.

12:33- Drinks break. Stokes and Ali are going strong after losing two quick wickets this morning. England trail by 137 runs.

11:26: WICKET! Another English batsman departs as Jonny Bairstow nicks Mitchell Starc's delivery straight to Steve Smith in the second slip. The hosts are in trouble.

11:01- WICKET! Huge blow to England as Joe Root nick Cummins' delivery straight to David Warner in the slip. What a start for Australia!

11:00- Day 2 begins! Pat Cummins starts proceedings as Joe Root is on strike.

10:30- It's a bright sunny day in Leeds. Welcome back to TSN's Live coverage of the Ashes 2023 third test between England and Australia at the Headingley Cricket Ground.

The English top order was sent back quickly by the Australian fast bowlers after they themselves saw quick collapse of their lower order on Day 1.

18:32- STUMPS, DAY 1. ENG 68/3 after 19 overs, trail AUS by 195 runs

What an entertaining day of cricket here in Leeds. Australia batted first and England reaped the rewards of bringing in Chris Woakes and Mark Wood as the Aussies were reeling at 85-4. However, Mitchell Marsh, who came in for the unfit Cameron Green, gobsmacked the spirits of the English bowling lineup and completely annihilated everything the bowlers threw at him. He scored his third Ashes century and was dismissed for a run-a-ball 118, just at the stroke of Tea.

Post Tea, Australia crumbled and could only manage to add 23 more runs for the last six wickets. The momentum was with England, who will be certainly desperate to gain the upper hand and make it 2-1 at the end of this game.

However, Cummins and Co. had other plans as the skipper struck twice with the new ball early on to derail England's plans and aspirations. Crawley looked good in the middle, but he was sent back by Marsh for a promising 33. Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow have now joined hands for the 4th wicket partnership, adding just 3 runs off 33 deliveries. Tomorrow morning will be crucial for the hosts if they are to fight back. We'll see you back over here tomorrow. Have a good night, everyone!

18:06- WICKET! And now Marsh strikes with the ball. This is definitely his day. Marsh pitches it up a tad fuller and bowls it a bit wide. Zak Crawley plays it away from the body and the shot induces a thick outside edge which David Warner latches onto at first slip. Crawley looked in good touch but now departs for 33 runs. England three down.

17:24- WICKET! Cummins gets another one and the experiment to try Harry Brook at No. 3 has miserably failed. He walks back after scoring just three runs and England have had a nightmarish start.

17:13- WICKET! Duckett departs!!! Pat Cummins offers the English opener loads of width, and the southpaw attempts to cut the ball and direct it towards point, but he can only manage a thick outside edge. A good start for Australia this.

We are back for the start of the England innings. At one point, the Aussies looked certain to score over 350 in 1st innings. But considering the fact that they were struggling at 85-4, one can only wonder what would have happened had Mitchell Marsh been unable to carry out his onslaught. Mark Wood bowled brilliantly as he picked up five wickets. See you on the other side of this innings break.

End of Innings. AUS 263 all out after 60.4 overs (1st innings)

16:46- WICKET! WOOD BAGS A FIFER!!! Todd Murphy chops this one back on to the stumps and Wood completes his five-wicket haul. This has been a sensational display of fast bowling and the Englishmen will be extremely happy with their effort.

16:34- WICKET! Mark Wood is on an absolute carnage at the moment and his searing pace is causing the opposition all sorts of trouble. The last recognisable batsman, Alex Carey, walks back to the pavilion after a brief stay. Australia nine down and Wood gets his fourth.

16:23- WICKET! Mark Wood is unstoppable at the moment. It's Pat Cummins who falls victim as Wood's inswinging delivery, clocking 149 km/h, smashes the pads and it is as plumb as it gets. Aussies in trouble.

16:20- WICKET! England are on absolute fire at the moment. Mark Wood makes an absolute mess of the stumps as Mitchell Starc gets beaten for pace. Australia lose their 7th wicket now.

16:11- WICKET! England strike immediately after the Tea Break. Woakes gets his third wicket and it was a smart piece of bowling by him as he bowled from over the wicket to change the angle. Head opens the face of the bat on a ball pitched at a good length, and Root completes the formalities in the slip cordon. It's a big wicket as Head departs for 39 as England sense some blood now.

16:03- Session 3 commences. England got the breakthrough they desperately wanted and now they'll focus on inflicting more damage on the Aussies in the final session of Day 1 of the third Ashes Test. Stay tuned for all the action and coverage on TSN!

15:42- End of Session 2. Tea Break commences. AUS 240/5 after 52.1 overs

15:41- WICKET! The partnership between Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh finally comes to an end, and it's the dangerous Marsh who departs for a run-a-ball 118. Woakes gets his 2nd wicket and that is Tea on Day 1.

15:23- 100 FOR MITCHELL MARSH!!! The all-rounder sat out the WTC Final and the first two Tests, with Cameron Green getting the chance instead. But Mitchell Marsh has taken this opportunity by the scruff of its neck and gets to his century in just 102 balls. A special innings after Australia were 85-4.

14:39- 50 up for Mitchell Marsh! The Aussie registers his fourth Test fifty. Marsh has provided the much-needed stability in the middle order after losing four wickets early in the match.

13:44- Broad begins proceedings in the second session.

13:05- End of Session 1

The English fast bowlers dominated the first session clearing out the top four of Australia. The visitors are 91/4 after 26 overs.

12:55- WICKET! Big wicket for the English as Broad gets Smith! The former Australian skipper leaves the pitch amid massive jeering from the home fans at Headingley.

12:31- WICKET! Woakes dismisses Labuschagne as the Aussie batsman nicks the ball towards Joe Root.

12:01- WICKET! Khawaja departs for 13 as Mark Wood cleans him up with a brilliant delivery.

11:03- WICKET! Broad strikes early! David Warner departs for four as he nicks the ball towards Zak Crawley in the slip. What a start!

11:00- Stuart Broad starts proceedings for England.
