A fight to determine the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999 will air on ESPN+ and DAZN PPV on May 18 when WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury faces Oleksandr Usyk for all the gold in Saudi Arabia.

Fury, the WBC champ, is already an accomplished and decorated fighter. “The Gypsy King” beat Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to become the WBA, IBF, WBO, and Ring heavyweight champion. When he returned from a two-and-half-year layoff, Fury didn’t lose a step, beating Deontay Wilder in 2020 for his current WBC title.

Usyk is a former undisputed champion at cruiserweight, having consolidated all the belts in 2018. In 2021, the Ukrainian southpaw defeated Anthony Joshua for the IBF, WBO and WBA titles before adding The Ring championship for his victory in the rematch. If he beats Fury, Usyk will join Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue as boxing's only other male double undisputed champs.

For the heavyweight division, this bout is the richest in boxing history. And with Saudi Arabia involved, the purses of the two should grow exponentially.

In October, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum stated that Fury would make over $100 million for a fight against Usyk.

“If you told Tyson Fury he’s set to make $100 million, he’d really get p___d off because he thinks, and I think he’s right, that he’s going to make a lot more. I don’t know the number, but it’s a lot more than $100 million," Arum told ESNews via Mirror
