Alex de Minaur's wonderful year continues, as he qualified for the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon Grand Slam in a four-set win over Frenchman Arthur Fils.

It continues his strong momentum after reaching the same stage at the French Open last month, with the Aussie reaching a career high world ranking of seventh in the aftermath.

He faces his biggest challenge yet to a first ever Grand Slam trophy, coming up against legendary Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals.

The Sporting News looks at de Minaur's record against the Serbian, and if he has ever managed to defeat him before.

Has Alex de Minaur ever beaten Novak Djokovic?

The two players have only met three times in singles matches, but Alex de Minaur has managed to defeat Novak Djokovic once, doing it at the start of the calendar year.

De Minaur's win came at the United Cup in Perth, where de Minaur defeated the then world number one in straight sets, winning 6-4 6-4 as Australia progressed past Serbia in the competition.

The Australian hit seven aces on the way to victory, as well as scoring two break points.

Australia would then be defeated by Germany in the semi-finals, though de Minaur won his match against Alexander Zverev.

Alex de Minaur vs Novak Djokovic last match, head-to-head record

Novak Djokovic still holds the upper hand in the head-to-head ledger between the players, winning the other two matches to date.

This includes in the fourth round of last year's Australian Open, where he won comfortably in straight sets; he would later win the championship.

He also won the last match between the pair at April's Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, pulling off yet another straight sets win, albeit in a tighter contest this time, in the quarter-finals.

This means de Minaur will have a chance to square the 'series' between the two at the quarter-final at Wimbledon.

Alex de Minaur and Novak Djokovic Wimbledon record

Alex de Minaur is currently having his best ever showing at Wimbledon, having previously only reaching the fourth round back in 2022.

He has also equalled his best ever Grand Slam finish, achieved only last month at the French Open, and a win over Djokovic would see him reach a first ever Grand Slam semi-final.

His opponent on the other hand has an illustrious history at the famous tournament, having won seven times between 2011 and 2022.

His last win notably came against Australian Nick Kyrgios in the final, where the Serbian won in four sets.
