If it wasn't clear already, Canada has a legitimate star in the pool.

17-year-old Summer McIntosh arrived in Paris with sky-high expectations, and she proved again on Thursday that she isn't letting the pressure get to her. McIntosh earned the second gold medal of her Olympic career, winning the 200-meter butterfly for her third medal overall.

Not only did McIntosh win, but she set an Olympic record in a pool that hasn't been very friendly to swimmers aiming for records.

The first 100 meters of the race couldn't have been closer, with China's Zhang Yufei holding a slight lead over McIntosh and USA's Regan Smith at the midway point. That's when McIntosh began to assert herself, grabbing the lead by the 150m mark and sealing the win with an excellent final 50 meters.

Yufei settled for bronze after a terrific final turn by Smith put the American star in position for silver, but there was no serious threat to McIntosh in the race's final stretch.

McIntosh first made an impression in Paris when she beat out Katie Ledecky for silver in the 400-meter freestyle on the first day of competition, and all she has done since that point is further entrench herself as a star.

McIntosh is set to race in the 4x200m freestyle relay later on Thursday, and her final event will be the 200-meter IM on Saturday, with heats and semifinals on Friday.

The Sporting News tracked McIntosh's results from the 200-meter butterfly race in Paris. See the full race results below.
