None other than Lady Gaga showed up on the banks of the Seine river during the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony with a rousing rendition of Zizi Jeanmaire's "Mon Truc en Plumes."

This isn't the first time the singer has performed in French — in fact, a number of her songs, including "Love Game," "Bad Romance" and "Fashion," include the language of this year's host country. In addition to Lady Gaga, French band Gojira, French pianist Sofiane Pamart, and French singer-songwriter Juliette Armanet are among others performed at the outdoor festivities.

With so much French in her music and her Olympic performance, does the singer have any connection with France at all? Here's everything you need to know about where Lady Gaga is from and more.

What languages does Lady Gaga speak?

While English is her first language, Lady Gaga does use a bit of French in her songs. When asked if she spoke the language in 2009 by French-speaking radio hosts she responded, in French, with a quip: "No, my French is sh*t."
