The Western Conference champions are on the brink of elimination, as Friday night's Game 5 on home ice did not go as planned for the Stars, dropping the swing game, 3-1. Only a little went right for the Stars while the Oilers played near-flawless hockey for 60 minutes.

The game was all but settled before the third period could even get underway, as two power-play tallies from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins gave the Oilers the cushion they needed to move one game closer to the Stanley Cup Final.

Neither team had scored on a man advantage throughout the series, and a lone such goal from Wyatt Johnson was not enough to put Dallas back in the game, as it came at the 14:09 mark of regulation.

Now the series shifts back to Canada for Game 6, as the Stars will attempt to avoid elimination and force a winner-take-all Game 7.
