The Panthers put Connor McDavid and the Oilers on the brink of elimination with a 4-3 win Thursday night in Edmonton.

Despite the Panthers' early lead, the Oilers showed their resilience, refusing to go down without a fight. They eventually gave up their three-goal lead, but a pair of tallies from Phillip Broberg and Ryan McLeod gave the Oilers life as the third period wound to a close.

The Panthers controlled the face-off draws at a 52 percent clip compared to just 48 percent for the Oilers. And despite outhitting the Panthers 37-32, it wasn't enough for Edmonton to at least guarantee a Game 5 appearance in Florida.

Now the Panthers will attempt to seek their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, as they have fallen short in their previous two appearances: 2023 to the Vegas Golden Knights and 1996 to the Avalanche. Meanwhile, while improbable, the Oilers will attempt to extend the series and have a fighting chance at winning their first championship since 1990.
