It's a big draft for Big Blue.

The Giants were one of the NFL's surprise squads last year, making their first playoff appearance since the 2016 season. This offseason will be crucial in determining whether or not that window juts open or stays right where it is.

Giants GM Joe Schoen has his work cut out for him, as he turns a roster loaded with depth signings and veteran minimum contracts into a team of blue-chip prospects. The good news for the Giants is that they have the most important position locked up. 

Daniel Jones played his way into a big-money deal this offseason, allaying fears that New York would have to hit the reset button in the immediate. This year, the Giants can focus on surrounding Jones with talent, something that he hasn't had a whole lot of through his four years under center.

Giants NFL Draft needs

• Linebacker: The Giants haven't had much luck with linebackers in recent years, which is odd, given their history with hard-nosed and Hall of Fame-level backers they've had. They signed Bobby Okereke, but they'll need to fill out their room this offseason.
• Wide receiver: Daniel Jones was throwing to the vendor from Section 312 by the time the season was over, thanks to injuries and a lack of depth at the position. Don't be surprised if the Giants go pass-catcher heavy this draft to solidify the corps with young receivers.
• Running back: Yes, Saquon Barkley and the Giants are locked in a contract standoff, but the room behind Barkley consists of Matt Breida and Gary Brightwell. Big Blue should look to fill out the room with more young backers in the event that Barkley bolts after 2023.
