Singing the national anthem in the Super Bowl is one of the most prestigious honors any performer can achieve, and for Super Bowl 58, it goes to Reba McEntire. 

The job of performing it in ASL will go to Daniel Durant, who has made strides as a deaf performer. Anjel Pinero will perform ASL during "America the Beautiful," while Shaheem Sanchez will perform ASL during "Lift Every Voice and Sing."

Durant was recently the star performer in the movie CODA, which was nominated for three Oscars at the 94th annual Academy Awards.

Who is Daniel Durant?

Durant is an American stage actor who was born deaf. He originally hit the entertainment scene in 2012, first catching attention for his appearance in '15 with the Broadway revival of Spring Awakening. He joined the Deaf West Theatre in '12.

"My disability does not define me," Durant said once in an interview. "It is a part of who I am, but it does not limit me from pursuing my dreams. I want to break barriers and show the world what I can achieve,” Durant shared in a previous interview.

He was also on the TV show, Switched at Birth. He played the role of a character known as Matthew who made frequent appearances.

Other plays Durant appeared in included Police Deaf Near Far and Flowers for Algernon. All of this has showcased his pure versatility as an actor.

For his role as Matthew, among other appearances, Durant has amassed several accolades. These include the Ovation Awards (2015 and 2016), the BroadwayWorld LA Awards (2015), and the Theatre World Award (2015).
