Add this to the list of weirdest reasons for a delayed game.

Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball played a road game Thursday against Long Island University. But before the game could start, Knights players became trapped in an elevator on their way from the visiting locker room to the court. Yes, you read that right.

Players remained stuck while firefighters attempted to pry the elevator doors open. The 7 p.m. start time for the contest in Brooklyn, New York, was delayed as a result.

Fortunately, the first responders worked quickly. The doors opened a long (and hot) 15 minutes later, and the Northeast Conference matchup began.

The incident may have boosted LIU's home court advantage, as the Sharks held a 36-35 lead at halftime.

And it's probably safe to assume FDU will be getting the extra steps in and using the stairs for the foreseeable future.
