In the music industry these days, there doesn't seem to be anything better for an artist's career than having one of their songs go viral on TikTok.

This week, Irish singer Aimee Carty has been the latest artist to achieve this, with some help from an unlikely source: Duke University guard Jared McCain.

McCain, 19, posted a video to his TikTok page with over two million followers, singing an acapella version of Carty's new song '2 days into college', captioning the video "Post workout jingles @Aimee Carty was elite with this," with the video currently having over four million views and over six-hundred-thousand likes.

The Duke star's rendition of the song quickly went viral, with many users creating edits that included his introduction, before the rest of the song was performed by Carty while McCains' highlights played.

From here, the song quickly snowballed into a wider trend, with people posting videos of themselves listening to the song while trying to 'act dark and serious', crediting McCain for putting them onto the song, and even labeling it as McCain's theme song.

Carty's song has officially been used in over 7,000 videos on TikTok, and Carty's original TikTok version has been viewed over five million times, with over six hundred thousand likes.

On Spotify, the song has been played over two-and-a-half million times, more than four times as many as her second highest, and Carty has recorded 449,260 monthly listeners.

Who is Aimee Carty?
