The winner of the 2023 RBC Heritage may have to thank LIV Golf for their payday.

The tournament's total purse is up 250 percent from last year's event. It's one of the biggest purses of the year, thanks to the PGA Tour's introduction of "designated events."

Seven PGA Tour events have a total purse of $20 million in 2023, a marked change in the tour's financials. In 2022, only The Players Championship had a total purse of $20 million.

With LIV Golf's events all promising a $20 million individual purse, the PGA Tour still has a ways to go to match the cash flow of the Saudi-backed golf league. Still, there has been improvement — and that improvement will improve the financial standing of plenty of golfers in 2023 and beyond.
