PGA Tour Championship purse, payouts: How much does the FedEx Cup winner make in 2023?

Saving the best — and most — for last.

Rory McIlroy is a three-time FedEx Cup winner, and he's angling to double up on his successes with a win at East Lake Golf Club this weekend.

McIlroy wasn't on pole position to start the tournament — that belonged to Scottie Scheffler, who himself has had a hell of season — but that doesn't matter much. McIlroy hasn't needed the 10-under start to secure the win in the past. He's won the tournament in comeback fashion his last two tries, meaning that a lead entering the tournament doesn't necessarily mean it's safe.

If the trend continues, then McIlroy will land his fourth FedEx Cup title — and a whole lot more money to go along with it.

Here's what to know about this year's Tour Championship purse and more:

PGA Tour Championship purse for 2023

This year's FedEx Cup purse sits at a gigantic $75 million, the same as 2022. It's a season-long tournament of sorts, making the pot extra large. In addition to the purse, the winner also receives a five-year PGA Tour exemption.

The winner takes home roughly a quarter of the total purse.

How much money does the PGA Tour Championship winner get?

The Tour Championship victor will take home a hefty check of $18 million. That's the largest single check in any PGA Tour event throughout the year, obviously, though it doesn't necessarily count towards a player's career earnings, considering it's a season-long bonus pool.

The difference between first and second place is hefty: The second-place finisher takes home $6.5 million, making an $11.5 million difference between first- and second-place golfers.

Third place takes home a total of $5 million, with denominations decreasing all the way to No. 30, who will cash a half-million dollar check.

Tour Championship payouts

First place takes home a whopping $18 million come Sunday afternoon. All top 10 winners finish with a seven-figure check as part of the FedEx Cup.
