There's a significant pot of gold at the end of the PGA Tour rainbow.

The final golf tournament of the 2024 PGA season is here, as the PGA Tour Championship is set to wrap up the 2024 FedEx Cup playoffs. The third and final leg of the postseason determines the FedEx Cup winner, and who will be going home with a large sum of cash.

Entering the competition at East Lake Golf Club, it's no surprise that Scottie Scheffler is in prime position to win his first FedEx Cup. The two-time Masters champion has enjoyed an incredibly successful 2024 season, including winning his second Masters in April, and earning a gold medal for the United States in Paris.

Scheffler enters East Lake atop the leaderboard and gets the best shot at winning the tournament. However, right behind him is 2024 PGA Championship and British Open winner Xander Schauffele, as well as 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship winner Hideki Matsuyama.

Here's what to know about this year's Tour Championship purse and more:

PGA Tour Championship purse for 2024

This year's FedEx Cup purse sits at a lofty $100 million — a $25 million increase from 2023.

In addition to the purse, the winner also receives a five-year PGA Tour exemption. The victor takes home a quarter of the total purse.

How much money does the PGA Tour Championship winner get?

The Tour Championship winner will take home a massive check of $25 million. That's the largest single check in any PGA Tour event throughout the year.

That's a $7 million increase from the 2023 total, which was set at $18 million.

The difference between first and second place is hefty. Whoever finishes in second place takes home half of what the winner earns — $12.5 million. The dropoff to third place isn't insignificant either, as the third-place golfer wins $7.5 million.

Whichever golfer wins the PGA Tour Championship takes home a whopping $25 million come Sunday afternoon.
