Rugby league fans will have another chance to honour Tina Turner on NRL Grand Final night, with a special performance of some of her greatest hits set to headline the pre-game entertainment.

The iconic artist passed away earlier this year, leading to an outpouring of tributes from across the game.

Turner was closely linked with the sport during the 1980s and 1990s, headlined by a legendary performance at the grand final 30 years ago between the Broncos and Dragons.

Aussie rock band King Stingray will also be featured prior to the clash on October 1st at Accor Stadium.

NRL Grand Final entertainment: Who is performing?

This year's NRL Grand Final pre-game entertainment will be headlined by the cast of Tina Turner: The Musical, while Australian group King Stingray will also perform prior to the game.

The cast will perform some of Turner's iconic songs including “Simply The Best” and “Proud Mary”, with the former becoming the anthem of rugby league three decades ago.

“Thirty years on, Tina Turner’s 1993 performance remains one of the great grand final moments," NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said in a statement.

"This collaboration is a perfect way for rugby league to pay tribute to Tina and everything she did for our game, and it will be a special moment for fans amongst the outstanding entertainment on offer on grand final day.”
