India men's hockey tour of Australia - Schedule, venues, results and scores of the five-match series

With the arrival of the new year, the attention of the sporting world has shifted to its most historic competition. The Olympics are set to be held in Paris in 2024, after the 2020 event was postponed to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It has been a mixed bag for Indian hockey as far as the Paris Olympics are concerned. The men's team qualified for the tournament well in advance, while the women's team failed to make it, and it beset by off-field issues.

Ahead of the tournament in the summer, final preparations for the men's team are underway. As part of this, the team is set to embark on a tour of Australia for a five-match Test series starting from April 6.

The 28-man squad departed from New Delhi for Perth, Western Australia on April 2. A statement from Hockey India read that "the tour to Australia presents a crucial opportunity for the Indian team to assess their preparedness, fine-tune their strategies, and identify areas for improvement ahead of the Paris Olympics."

Captain Harmanpreet Singh also spoke to the media, echoing the fact that the tour presented an excellent opportunity for India to test themselves against an opponent of significant quality. All the matches will be played in Perth and can be watched from India as well.
