The Olympics are coming to the United States in four years, and the U.S. knows it can build momentum toward 2028 with another strong showing on the national stage in Paris.

The United States again comfortably finished with the most medals at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, winning 113 overall and 39 gold, but the gap narrowed from 2016 when the U.S. won by a margin of 51 medals. China finished 34 medals behind the USA in Tokyo, and plenty of nations are looking to narrow the gap even further in Paris.

Medals will be awarded each day from July 27 to Aug. 11 in Paris. There were 1,080 medals won in Tokyo three years ago, with 93 countries earning at least one medal and 65 nations winning at least one gold medal. The chase for gold is in motion once again.

Here's a look at the updated medal count standings at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
