From 2016-20, Tom Brady made four Super Bowl appearances in five seasons. Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes matched that feat this season by leading the Chiefs to their fourth Super Bowl appearance in five seasons. Brady went 3-1 in those games, but it was with two different teams in New England and Tampa Bay.

Mahomes matched Brady's run on Sunday.

Mahomes, 28, added to his Super Bowl accomplishments when Kansas City defeated San Francisco 25-22 in Super Bowl 58 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday.

While it might be a little early for a Brady vs. Mahomes all-time argument – Brady has seven Super Bowl championships, after all – Mahomes is working into some high-level conversations based on his Super Bowl appearances.

How many Super Bowls has Patrick Mahomes won?

Mahomes is 15-3 in the playoffs, including a 3-1 mark in the Super Bowl. Last season, he became the 13th quarterback to win multiple Super Bowls as a starter.

Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 31-20 victory against San Francisco in Super Bowl 54. Tampa Bay, led by Brady, beat Kansas City 31-9 in Super Bowl 55.

He also led the Chiefs to a 38-35 victory against Philadelphia in Super Bowl 57 last season. Now, he's back, and Kansas City has a chance to become the first repeat Super Bowl winner since the New England Patriots – again, with Brady – won Super Bowl 38 and Super Bowl 39 in consecutive seasons.

This year, Mahomes was at it again. He and the Chiefs defeated the 49ers in overtime in Super Bowl 58 to go back-to-back for the first time since the Patriots in 2003-04.

How has Patrick Mahomes performed in the Super Bowl?

Here's a look at how Mahomes fared in each of his Super Bowl appearances:

Super Bowl 54: Chiefs 31, 49ers 20

The Chiefs trailed 20-10 in the fourth quarter, but a 3rd-and-15 pass from Mahomes to Tyreek Hill ignited a comeback that included TDs by Travis Kelce and Damien Williams. Mahomes finished 26-of-42 for 286 yards, two TDs, and two interceptions, leading Kansas City to its first Super Bowl victory in 50 seasons. Mahomes was named Super Bowl MVP.

Super Bowl 55: Buccaneers 31, Chiefs 9

Brady and the Buccaneers spoiled the Chiefs’ bid for back-to-back Super Bowl championships in a game impacted by COVID-19. Tampa Bay built a 21-6 lead by halftime. Mahomes was sacked three times and threw two interceptions, and this game was never close in the fourth quarter. Mahomes finished 26-of-49 for 270 yards. Brady was 21-of-29 for 203 yards and three TDs.

Super Bowl 57: Chiefs 38, Eagles 35

Philadelphia led 24-14 at halftime, but Mahomes engineered a second-half comeback. He was efficient by hitting 21-of-27 attempts for 182 yards and three TDs, including fourth-quarter TD passes to Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore. Mahomes led a drive that set up the game-winning field goal by Harrison Butker with eight seconds remaining, which helped him earn his second Super Bowl MVP.

Super Bowl 58: Chiefs 25, 49ers 22 (OT)

The Chiefs trailed the 49ers 10-3 at halftime in a defensive struggle. Mahomes, however, led the game-tying field goal drive, which Harrison Butker capped with three seconds remaining. The 49ers kicked a field goal on the opening possession of OT, and Mahomes led the game-winning drive, with a 3-yard TD pass to Mecole Hardman for the win. Mahomes finished 33-of-46 pass for 333 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception and 66 rushing yards and earned Super Bowl MVP honors for the third time.
