Several key players have made returns from injury in Graham Arnold's latest Socceroos squad for World Cup qualifiers.

Winger Craig Goodwin is the biggest name to return after being sidelined with a broken rib, with his form for Saudi Pro League side Al Wehda ensuring he has made a swift return.

Lewis Miller and Aiden O'Neill - who recently captained club side Standard Liege - have also been added back to the side after missing recent fixtures due to injury, with wonderkid Nestory Irankunda being named despite having an injury scare at Bayern Munich earlier in the week.

Also back in the side are Maty Ryan and Awer Mabil - with the former rested in the last international window and the latter having a strong start to the season for Swiss side Grasshoppers.

Alessandro Circati has been named just after knocking off Italian powerhouse AC Milan for Parma, with recent Bundesliga debutants Connor Metcalfe and Jackson Irvine are set to play a key role in midfield.

Arnold said he wanted to get off to a strong start in matches against Bahrain and Indonesia: "Our full focus is on these opening two games and starting strongly. Two positive results to open Round Three not only builds belief within the group but gives us great momentum as we move into what will be three consecutive windows.

"The standards we set are always high and they’ve played a significant role in the growth of this group and what we were able to achieve in Round Two. The players understand what’s expected of them in terms of their focus, preparation and energy in camp as we move into the next stage of qualification."

The Socceroos host Bahrain on the Gold Coast on September 5, before travelling to near neighbours Indonesia on September 10.
